Let’s dive in!
As we head into 2025, many families are starting to plan their travels for the year. What destinations are you most excited about for family travel this year, and why do you think they’re perfect for making lasting memories with kids?
I’m always dreaming up our next adventure, and in 2025, here are a few family-friendly destinations I’m especially excited about:
Sardinia, Italy: If you’re looking for a more off-the-beaten-path family destination, I follow the rule of ‘Go where the European families go’. Sardinia is an island between Italy and Spain and it encompasses both cultures beautifully. A vacation here is all about those stunning Mediterranean beaches, fresh seafood, and charming little villages. It’s a slice of paradise with some of the bluest water in Europe, and it’s easy to explore with kids!
Mexico: Mexico is one of my favorite go-tos for a quick and easy family trip. Cabo is a go-to of ours, as is Punta Mita or the Riviera Maya, each of these have amazing hotels that define family-friendly luxury.
Maui, Hawaii: There’s just something magical about Hawaii for families. The beaches are perfect for little ones, the culture is so welcoming to kids, and the island has everything from beautiful beach days to waterfall hikes and luaus!
Packing for a family trip can be overwhelming, especially with little ones! What are your go-to tips for packing efficiently without sacrificing style or comfort for your kids?
It is definitely overwhelming! I try not to stress about over-packing, because I’d rather have ALL the things than be without something that makes the trip easier on us.
Some tips I have for packing as a family: Pack in outfits, not items. Lay everything out and think about full looks, including shoes and accessories.
Stick to lightweight, breathable fabrics that will keep them cool and comfy no matter the climate!
Prioritize multi use pieces. A cute button-down can be a dinner outfit and a beach cover-up for my son. An adorable romper doubles as both daywear and a dinner outfit for my daughter.
Good, comfy shoes! Sandals that slip on and off easily (for airports and beach days) + one pair of sneakers for walking adventures = all you need for kiddos.
When traveling with kids, comfort is key, but so is looking stylish! How do you strike the right balance between the two when selecting outfits for your little ones?
I always aim for soft, lightweight fabrics, like linen, cotton, and quick-dry, high quality performance fabrics that can handle beach days, gelato drips, and nap time cuddles. Speaking of standing up against gelato spills, prints are your best friend! I love a printed Hawaiian shirt for my son or a breezy floral dress for my daughter. I also love to pack accessories that are both functional and adorable. A cute bucket hat, little sunglasses, and a cover-up instantly level up their vacation looks while also keeping them protected from the sun!
Your resortwear brand, Kenny Flowers, now has a beautiful kids' line! How did your experience as a mom influence the design of the kids’ collection, and what sets it apart from other kids’ fashion brands out there?
As a mom of two (Harrison, my son, is 2.5, and my baby girl Hadley is 7 months old), I’m constantly designing with them in mind, and what I want them rocking both on vacations and everyday adventures. I wanted Kenny Flowers’ kids line (Kiddy Flowers) to be just as stylish, comfy, and easy to wear as our men and women’s collections, but made with real life in mind, aka breathable fabrics, chic designs, and the kind of pieces you’ll reach for again and again in your kids closet.
Plus I love a good matching family moment, and our kids’ collection is designed to coordinate or match with the adults, in either swimwear or resort wear! Because matching with your minis on vacation is always a vibe.
What are some of the standout pieces from the Kenny Flowers kids’ line that you think are perfect for family vacations? How do these pieces enhance both style and practicality for little ones on the go?
For my daughter, I’m obsessed with our bubble romper dresses, like this one - the BVI’s Bubble Romper. It’s lightweight, ridiculously cute, and perfect and comfortable for everything from beachside dinners to stroller naps. Bonus? The snaps make diaper changes so much easier.
For my son, I always go for a classic Hawaiian shirt, like this one (The BVI’s Boys Hawaiian Shirt), paired with our white linen shorts. It’s the ultimate vacation-ready boys look that keeps him cool while looking effortlessly stylish.
We really focus on a superior quality at Kenny Flowers so designing pieces in high-end fabrics and ultra-detailed construction so that they will not only last and not fade with wear or tear, but also last so well so that one day you can hand them down to siblings, or even your future grandchildren!
We’d love to hear your thoughts on Meems’ collection! Are there any pieces from our site that you would choose for your little one’s travel wardrobe? We have a variety of cozy winter essentials and stylish options for families on the go!
Mer St. Barths is one of our favorites for my daughter. I love this Rose Stripe Anna Baby Romper, and we have it in white at home!
I just added this one to cart!!! How cute is this Oh Baby! Terry Baseball Set for my son!?
As a travel expert, you’ve seen so many amazing destinations! For families looking for a memorable getaway, what are your top three recommendations for 2025 and what makes them special for parents with young kids?
Anguilla, Caribbean: Anguilla is a dream for family vacations with its calm, crystal-clear waters, uncrowded white-sand beaches, and luxurious yet laid-back resorts that cater to kids and parents, plus, the island’s warm, welcoming vibe makes every family feel right at home.
Sardinia, Italy: The ultimate mix of postcard-perfect beaches, relaxed Italian charm, and delicious food.
Hawaii: Kid-friendly beaches, dreamy resorts, and so many family-friendly adventures.
Mexico: Gorgeous beaches, the best food, and resorts that cater so well to families, it’s an easy, no-stress getaway.
I have tons of tips for each of these destinations with kids on my blog JetsetChristina.com and on instagram @jetsetchristina
We know the right accessories can complete a travel look! Are there any travel essentials or accessories you recommend for kids that make travel easier and more fashionable?
Their own suitcase or backpack, it makes kids feel independent while keeping their snacks and toys handy on the flight!
Sunglasses + a sun hat, because every kid looks adorable in shades and a sun hat!
For new parents who might be nervous about traveling with babies or toddlers, what are your top pieces of advice to ensure a stress-free, enjoyable family vacation?
Your energy = their energy. If you’re nervous and stressed, they will FEEL that and they will feed off of your energy. If you’re relaxed and excited, on the other hand, they will feed off of THAT and will be excited and relaxed themselves!!!
Give yourself grace. Traveling with kids is never perfect, but it’s always worth it. Go with the flow and try to laugh at the stressful moments, they’ll make for great stories one day.
Plan around meals & naps. A well-fed, well-rested kid = a happier trip for everyone.
Most importantly, soak it all in. The memories you make while traveling as a family are are the moments you (and they) will cherish forever. Just because they don’t remember doesn’t mean it’s not shaping who they are in deep and profound ways.
